MJR brings together researchers, educators and community leaders across the UK to understand and address the lasting effects of Britain’s colonial history.
Research
Partnering with the Religious Histories Department of the Open University, the Nazarene Theological College in Manchester, and other organisations to find, collate and publish research into the legacy of colonial slavery and industrial exploitation in Britain.

This 67 minute feature documentary shows how the 18th century Church became embroiled in chattel slavery. We discover how the Church justified its involvement and its lasting impact. The film then explores what this means for Christian reconciliation today.

The MJR Exhibition: Colonial Slavery and Its Legacy
Consisting of eight information panels and an interactive desk, the exhibition looks at the history and the ongoing effects on the descendants of both those who suffered and those who benefitted. Available for free hire by schools, museums, libraries, local organisations, community groups or churches.
